I'm 21 years old, and I'm a transfer student and junior at the University of Central Florida. I received my Associates degree at Lake Sumter State College. I'm pursuing a major in public relations with a minor in Cultural Anthropology. I find public relations intriguing because it’s a field that's constantly evolving and rapidly growing.
I've lived in Florida for most of my life. During my middle school years my family and I moved to Pachuca, Hidalgo (Mexico) for a bit of time and moved back to Florida. Shortly after moving back to Florida, my younger sister was diagnosed with stage 3 Lymphoma cancer.
My time in Mexico was under-appreciated by me at the time. But shortly after moving back to Florida I realized that I was fortunate to have experienced and adapted to a different environment. I had to adapt to a language which I barely spoke, a new school and community, and different culture. Thanks to the three years that I spent there I became fluent in Spanish, I lost my fear of presenting to a large crowd and I got experience a different culture.
My sister’s cancer journey is what inspired me to pursue a career in Public Relations. She constantly had various organizations that could gift her items or experiences that would take her mind off her treatment. My dream job would be to part of a team of an organization with a great cause by using PR skills/tactics to help them grow.
Currently I'm a full-time student at the University of Central Florida. I recently joined Intern Pursuit's marketing team as an intern. I spend a large part of my day focusing on my studies and now my internship. In my free time, I like to go kayaking, take pictures and spend time with my friends and family.
After graduating I plan on working in Central Florida, travel the world, and one day, start my own organization inspired by those that assisted my sister during her cancer treatment.
